Perspective

Star five: Brilliance. 50,000+ students, one at a time.

Since 2023, we had been running programmes in colleges alongside our technology work. By 2024, that work had grown too big to sit in a corner of Pragmatiq. So we created Ritebook Technologies : a separate company for education, with its own leadership from the education world, including our COO, Raghavender Srirampur , and Venkateshwar Prasad Tangirala, PhD , advisor to all RiteBook™ products.

Seven Years. Seven Stars. Chapter five of seven.

In our fifth year, we did something many founders find hard. We gave our learning work a home of its own.

Why a separate company Last week, I wrote about our habit of understanding the domain before the technology. RiteBook™ is that habit applied to ourselves.

Education has its own language, its own calendar and its own pressures. A principal, a lecturer, a parent and a student each need something different from the same college. To serve them well, we needed leaders who have lived in that world, not engineers visiting it.

RiteBook™ still draws on Pragmatiq's engineering core. But it answers to the people it serves.

From a platform to an ecosystem RiteBook™ began as a simple learning platform. Every college we worked with showed us what was still missing: for management, for faculty, for students, for parents, for the companies that hire them.

So it grew. Today it is an ecosystem of seven products, built together so that every stakeholder in a college is served, not just the classroom.

In chapter three, I promised you'd see what we've built on PurpleGene®. Here is what it looks like on campus:

WhatsApp first. Students don't need another app. Learning, reminders and help reach them where they already are. Agentic AI where it helps. Routine work moves off faculty desks, and each learner is guided to the right next step. Personal by design. With the learner's consent, PurpleGene® shapes how each student is helped: the same goal, a different path.

The names come in the final week, one a day.

What the numbers say 100+ programmes across colleges since 2023. 50,000+ students reached. And a growing number of paying users. Reach shows interest. People paying shows it's useful.

What the year taught us Give a new domain its own leaders. Passion for a domain isn't enough. People who have lived it should lead it. Meet people where they already are. For students in India, that's WhatsApp, not one more app. Separate, but connected. RiteBook™ has its own team and its own focus, and shares one engineering core with Pragmatiq. Each makes the other stronger.

The Pragmatiq Way, principle 5 Understand the domain before the technology.

Year four, we learned our clients' worlds. Year five, we built a company around a world we wanted to serve ourselves.

The star: Angiras Angiras is the star the West calls Alioth, the brightest of the seven. It is where the Big Dipper's handle begins, the first light leading outward from the bowl.

That was our fifth year: the learning mission stepped out on its own, and began to shine.

What's next On Wednesday, a first look at what's coming in the final week.

On Thursday, meet one of the people behind our domain-first work.

Next Sunday, star six lights up: Vasishtha, the star that never travels alone.

19 days to seven. #Pragmatiq7
